Change at the command of the San Marco marine brigade and at the command of the military garrison of Brindisi

On Saturday morning, at the square of the "Ermanno Carlotto" barracks in Brindisi, chaired by the commander of the Amphibious Force, Rear Admiral Antonio Galiuto, the change took place at the command of the marine brigade Saint Mark and in command of the military garrison of Brindisi, between Rear Admiral Cesare Bruno Petragnani (transferor) and Rear Admiral Luca Anconelli (successor). The handover took place in front of a reduced military representation, in compliance with government regulations related to the prevention of the spread of COVID -19.

Admiral Petragnani left office after almost four years, during which the men and women of the marine brigade Saint Mark they participated in numerous and diversified national and international activities, including the Safe Sea, NATO operations Sea Guardian, EUNAVFOR Atalanta and EUNAVFORMED Sophia in the purely maritime field, in addition to operations in direct support to the population such as the SABINA operation, for assistance following the Amatrice earthquake, the deployment of the Advanced Medical Place in Jesi during the COVID-19 emergency and the continuous support for Operation Safe Roads. During these 45 months, moreover, the Marina San Marco Brigade has started participating in important missions in the IPPOCRATE foreign operating theaters in Libya, MIBIL in Lebanon and has continued its efforts at the Djibouti logistics base.

Rear Admiral Anconelli takes command of the San Marco marine brigade, an elite department, historically employed in the front line, characterized by very high professionalism, promptness and flexibility. Admiral Anconelli returns to the San Marco marine brigade, where he has already fulfilled various positions within the national amphibious component and after leading in March 2019, the 1st regiment Saint Mark in the homonymous square in Venice, on the occasion of the XNUMXth anniversary of the concession to the marine brigade of the name San Marco and of the delivery of the flag to the infantry department of Marina.
