The dialogue started between the Navy and the Vietnam People's Navy during the stop of the Morosini ship in Ho Chi Minh City in the period from 9 to 12 May.

In an area where the maritime dimension takes on ever greater geopolitical relevance every day and in full compliance with the strategic concept promoted by the European Union for the Indo-Pacific, Maritime Security becomes, in a broader scenario of dialogue and cooperation international, reason and element of comparison between the realities of the two countries.

The dialogue on the V-RMTC, a tool that allows all the information relating to merchant traffic on the sea to be received and shared among the countries adhering to the initiative, has already for several years made it possible to increase dialogue and mutual trust between the partners adhering to the initiative, for the benefit of one Maritime Situational Awareness and common maritime safety.

Representing the Navy was the admiral of division Vincenzo Montanaro, who during the visit on board Nave Morosini of the Vietnam People's Navy delegation, led by sen.cpt. Dinh Van Thang, deputy commander in chief of Naval Region Two, presented the peculiarities and potential of the system that allows numerous Navies from all over the world to exchange information and continue to collaborate in a trans-regional context.

In view of the strong interest shown by the counterparty and the willingness to initialize the procedure for joining the initiative, a dialogue has been initiated which, if materialized, will lead to the inclusion of the Navy of Vietnam - together with the Navies of other 37 nations already involved - in the V-RMTC and TRMN system architecture to collaborate, build, receive and disseminate the Maritime Situational Awareness on a global scale.
