Anti-piracy: stop in Tanzania for Mimbelli ship

Nave Mimbelli, for more than five months in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden area, has been involved in the Ocean Shield NATO anti-piracy operation, which has just concluded an important operational stop in Tanzania.

The stop in the capital Dar Es Salaam - house of peace in Arabic - from the 13 to the July 17, involved the crew of the Navy destroyer in the Regional Capacity Building cooperation activity with the Tanzanian Navy and humanitarian bringing medical assistance to some realities where childhood is suffering.

Upon arrival at the port, Mimbelli ship received the visit of the Italian ambassador to Tanzania, Luigi Scotto. Our ambassador stressed the importance of the presence of the navy in the basin of the Southern Indian Ocean and sub-equatorial Africa, in support of national interests and to protect the international maritime community in an area of ​​strategic interest for the nation.

The 'Mission of the Consolata Sisters' were visited in the suburbs of Dar es Salaam, in the poor district of Mbagala where the Sisters operate taking care of every day, more than 500 people affected by various diseases.

Ship commander Mimbelli, Captain Captain Davide Berna, then met the deputy chief of staff of the Tanzanian Navy, Brigadier General Majumba, at his headquarters in Kigamboni where they spoke about the success of anti-piracy training activities, carried out on board the Mimbelli, demonstrating its willingness to continue this cooperation in the future which only increases between the two marinas.

After the ship stop, Mimbelli returned to the sea to resume patrolling the Indian Ocean waters.
