The training course that will prepare 28 ship lieutenants, coming from all over Italy, to face their first naval command began on Monday 14 January.

The 283rd session of the Naval Command School, at the naval base of the Augusta Navy, a center of excellence for almost a century in the training of new commanders, began with the official presentation to the commander of the Patrol Forces for surveillance and defense coast (COMFORPAT), ship captain Pasquale Perrotta.

In the next month, the young officers will support two stages of training: the training of Manovra (Tir.Ma.) that will be carried out in the roadstead of Augusta and has as main focus the development of future commanders techniques and procedures necessary to perform the different maneuvers mooring, buoy and foundation; the Traineeship of Maneuver and Tactical Employment (Tir.MIT) with the focus on developing the tactical conduct of naval units in the open sea.

The Naval Command School is a unique institution of its kind, which from 93 years allows young officers to acquire and perfect, thanks to the contribution of the expert "evaluator" commanders and the commanders of the naval units involved, the theoretical and practical notions required to prepare them and enable them to command military units. In fact, from 1926, it represents the natural meeting point of officers of different specializations, strong of their peculiarities but united by the common objective that distinguishes the ship officer: to become commander.
