21 "Leoni" become part of the San Marco marine brigade

Tuesday 29 October 2024, took place in the Piazza d'Armi of the Swabian Castle of Brindisi, headquarters of the marine brigade command Saint Mark, the delivery ceremony of the grey-green beret with the red frieze to the attendees of the 29th amphibious qualification course for non-managerial personnel who completed the training course at the Caorle Schools Battalion, the Leonis factory of the Marine Brigade Saint Mark.

The ceremony sealed indelibly the conclusion of the amphibious qualification course. The latter guaranteed attendees a 360° professional preparation that will allow them to be employed in all future operational theaters in which they will be called to operate.

Of the 44 attendees selected in the competitive tests for initial-term volunteers admitted to attend the course, only 21 succeeded with a spirit of dedication and constant commitment in obtaining the amphibious qualification certificate.

The entire course lasted 23 weeks, during which the participants passed physical, professional and courage tests aimed at evaluating the character and aptitude of the aspiring riflemen: 7 weighted marches with more than 100km covered, 6 complex long-duration activities at various training areas, 18 written tests, 49 practical tests, over 30 descents with a barbettone, countless series of push-ups, pull-ups and squats. 

To the new ones Leoni the colours of the grey-green beret are delivered which, with the unmistakable red frieze, represent the continuity and the baggage of the history of our department and pass on the mettle that the brave Leoni of the Saint Mark they showed to defend the city of Venice.

The final ceremony of the 29th amphibious qualification course marked a unique moment for these new 21 marine riflemen who will join the 1st regiment in the next few days Saint Mark where they will operate, at home and in foreign operating theaters, in which the brigade is called to participate.
