Regarding the hearing at the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the depleted uranium of a former Guardia di Finanza officer, it is reiterated again that the Armed Forces - Army, Navy and Air Force - and the Carabinieri have never acquired and used ammunition containing depleted uranium . The facts reported do not fall within the Defense area of responsibility.
The type of ammunition under discussion - as already stated several times over the years - has never been part of the Armed Forces arsenal and has never been used either on national territory or abroad.
In this regard, it is recalled that, on several occasions, both at the expense of the Armed Forces and of the various successive Parliamentary Commissions, various technical-scientific commissions have ascertained the absence, within the polygons and training areas of the Armed Forces, of values abnormal depleted uranium compared to its usual occurrence in nature.
