In recent days, a joint training activity between the assets of the 66th "TRIESTE" and the United States Aircraft Infantry Regiment was held in Sardinia, at the military airport of Decimomannu (CA) and the Military Polygon of Capo Teulada (SU). Marine Corps (USMC) under the North Africa Response Force (NARF) consisting of two MV-22 "OSPREY" tiltrotors.

The "Field Training Exercise" (FTX) had as its main training objective the conduct of an aircraft raid, as well as the training of flight crews for landing and take-off on dusty terrain with poor visibility on the ground.

As a premise of the exercise, the unit of the 66th regiment carried out familiarization with the tiltrotor and crews, aimed at understanding the potential and safety procedures of the MV-22.

After the joint planning, an aircraft raid was conducted: a "lightning" action aimed at obtaining important information contained within a mobile command post of the enemy units.

The joint exercise was aimed at increasing interoperability between the United States Marine Corps and the Italian Army. On this occasion, the infantrymen of the 66th regiment, the unit of the "Friuli" aircraft brigade, were able to train with extremely special aircraft and refine the integration of national standard operating procedures with those of an important foreign Partner.
