In recent days, the Deputy Chief of the Defense Staff gen. ca Carmine Masiello visited his French counterpart Major General Éric Autellet in Paris.
The meeting represented an opportunity to discuss the implementation by the Italian and French Armed Forces of the Treaty of the Quirinale signed on November 26th.
In particular, it concerned the new structure of the already important bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of doctrine, capabilities and operations.
During the visit, a phone call between the commander of COVI gen. ca Francesco Paolo Figliuolo and his French counterpart Admiral Nicolas Vaujour, made it possible to take stock of the current international military operations in which both countries are involved.
The extensive collaboration already underway between Italy and France has recently resulted in the interaction between the aircraft carrier Cavour , Charles de Gaulle in the Mediterranean.
A staff meeting is scheduled for the end of March in Paris, which will further strengthen its bilateral Italian-French relations.
