Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini today visited the Piacenza field hospital to greet and thank the military, doctors and nurses, who have been involved in the Covid-19 emergency for over a month.

After Piacenza, Minister Guerini also went to Lodi, where he greeted and thanked the military personnel employed at the Maggiore Hospital. In the Lodi area there are 18 medical officers, 19 non-commissioned officers and 1 officer and 1 non-commissioned officer for the maintenance and maintenance of the structures.

"I am here to thank you in person, I know the effort you are making to respond to the needs of this population so severely affected by this emergency, like many other places in our country. This emergency is straining the Italians, but I want to share with you the appreciation for how our fellow citizens are facing this tough test. We are doing hard work as the Armed Forces together with the police to contribute to the control of the territory, but effectiveness would not be possible if there were not a great responsibility on the part of all Italians ".

“The Armed Forces have once again shown themselves ready to give an immediate response. We have fielded all our assets with an important and commendable effort, both professionally and humanly, witnessed by all the drawings of the children of this city that I have seen in recent days and personally witnessed to me by the citizens who write it to me . I know that what you are asked for is an important sacrifice, because you work in complex and difficult conditions facing an invisible enemy in a scenario that has forced you to face new questions and needs.

The Italian Armed Forces are doing all this with great generosity, but let us remember that it is one of the tasks assigned to us: alongside the defense of the homeland, collective defense, international missions, there is the competition in emergencies of this type. It is important to say this, because once the emergency has passed, attention to the Armed Forces must continue, promoting the growth of a defense culture that the country must develop. Even this dramatic experience reinforces the need. Thanks for all you're doing. "
