This morning at the “Celio” Military Polyclinic the Undersecretary of Defense Gioacchino Alfano and the president of ENEA, prof. Federico Testa signed an important memorandum of understanding for the implementation of a redevelopment program for the sustainability and energy efficiency of military buildings and training activities for Defense personnel.

For the president of Enea Testa "the collaboration with the Ministry of Defense aims to improve the energy performance of the properties it owns and ENEA, thanks to its own skills, will study the adoption of renewable sources and cutting-edge technologies to ensure safety, operational continuity even in emergency conditions, starting from the study, diagnosis and requalification program of the “Celio” Military Polyclinic. The President then highlighted that "ENEA already has agreements in place with other administrations for buildings of high historical and artistic value, such as for the Chamber of Deputies, Palazzo S. Macuto and Montecitorio, and for the headquarters of the General Command of the Carabinieri in Rome".

Undersecretary Alfano stressed that the Defense Department has supported and promoted important activities for energy / environmental sustainability, through a path of increasing the culture of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. In this regard, the recent establishment of an Energy Project Structure (SPE), strongly desired by Minister Pinotti, is an unequivocal expression of this commitment.

Today's Memorandum of Understanding - adds Alfano - it follows the path of other similar initiatives already undertaken with the University of Rome “Sapienza” and with the University of Genoa, as well as with the CNR Institutes and the University of the Campania Region. It is no coincidence that the first area of collaboration with ENEA is offered by the prestigious military hospital complex that hosts us today. Unique structure of its kind, both for its first-rate functional value in supporting out-of-area operations in medical assistance to the military and local populations tormented by war and for the provision of cutting-edge equipment and professionalism in medicine and science.
