On March 28, 2025, the Command and General Staff College of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (USA), one of the most important military training institutes of the US Army, has included the Chief of Staff of the Defense General Luciano Portolano in its “International Hall of Fame”.

The prestigious award is given to attending officers who reach the highest ranks within the Armed Forces or the highest public offices in their respective countries.
Together with General Portolano, the significant recognition was received by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, General Carsten Breuer, Chief of the German Defence Staff, and Lieutenant General Gregory Bilton, former Joint Operations Commander of the Australian Armed Forces.

In his speech, focused on leadership and addressed to over a thousand American attendees and more than one hundred international ones, General Portolano said he was particularly proud of such a high recognition, which he dedicated to all the soldiers, non-commissioned officers, officers and civilians with whom he served in numerous theaters of operation and, in particular, to the fallen, the wounded in service and their courageous families.
