Joint oath of the 25th normal course of marshals of the Navy and of the 141st course of the carabinieri school

Today in Taranto, in the Piazza Marinai d'Italia of Taranto - Rotonda del Lungomare Vittorio Emanuele III, for the first time in a joint ceremony, 147 students (of which 29 female) of the 25th course normal marshals swore allegiance to the Republic of the Navy Officers' School of Taranto and 245 students (of which 47 female) of the 141st course of the carabinieri school of Taranto.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the undersecretary of state for defence, the honorable Matteo Perego di Cremnago, the chief of defense staff, admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the chief of staff of the Navy, team admiral Enrico Credendino and the general commander of the 'Arma dei Carabinieri, general of the army corps Teo Luzi and other civil and military authorities.

In the deployment, there was an Interforce company made up of a representation of the 4 Armed Forces with the naval assets of the Navy at its base in Mar Grande to frame the ceremony.

"Seeing today's young people, often criticized for lack of stimuli, with the flame lit in their eyes, who dedicate themselves completely to a life of sacrifice and deprivation for the good of the country, is a beautiful gift. Training is essential and it is important invest in an ever more effective and modern military instrument". This was stated by the undersecretary of state for defence, Matteo Perego di Cremnago, during his speech, "You are the protagonists of the day and of the future. To be part of the Navy and the Carabinieri who carry out these missions, the necessary preparation is required. It is up to you to acquire it, to us the task of passing on the experience and values ​​that have always characterized the personnel of the Navy and the Arma and who have contributed to writing memorable pages of the glorious history of our country.

Admiral Cavo Dragone, during his speech, addressing the deployed departments, with reference to the current international scenario, declared “You need a professionalism, a motivation that you will be able to obtain only by starting well with this training cycle at the institutes. It is no longer a traditional warfare in the domains we used to. Earth, sea and sky are now massively invaded by new operational domains, which are cyberspace, space, the underwater domain and are the cognitive domain in which wars are being fought, in which a no-holds-barred confrontation is taking place on information, to give and manage information, to exploit it in a malicious way to influence public opinion and consequently the decision makers of the various nations. This entails a youth that is particularly attentive to their own training, a professionalism that is highly driven by a technological approach that is now unavoidable."

The chief of staff of the Navy, team admiral Enrico Credendino, in the greeting address to the students remarked “it is a unique moment that will accompany you throughout your life journey, which I assure you you will always carry with you. To all of you my affectionate seafaring wish always with the wind at your back".

The general commander of the Carabinieri, army corps general Teo Luzi, during his speech stated “Your presence in this square is the result of a generous and demanding life choice at the service of the country. You have been recruited from among the best of Italian youth and you have the right motivation to tackle the demanding mission that awaits you. You must know how to serve the community, take risks for the community and give the best of yourself."
