CIMIC Group: Italy at the helm of the Coordinating Committee

The coordination meeting between the Participating Nations of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) was held a few days ago in Motta di Livenza, attended by the national representatives of Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary, who met exceptionally in videoconference at cause of the CoViD-19 emergency.

During the Coordinating Committee, which takes place every six months, important topics were addressed such as the training of the structure for the NATO Response Force (NRF), morale & welfare, logistic-operational capabilities and the budget of the unit.

To seal the event, the handover between Hungary and Italy, through which Major General Sandor handed over the leadership of the Coordinating Committee to Brigadier General Andrea Argieri as Chairmanship of the committee.

Through this act, Italy assumes the presidency of the committee for the next two years, which is therefore entrusted to General Argieri, of the Air Force, current deputy head of the III Department of the Defense Staff.

After thanking the national representatives for their efforts, Colonel Luca Vitali, commander of the MNCG, illustrated the future developments and challenges that await the department in the field of civil-military cooperation.

The strong will to play the Coordinating Committee, initially put at risk by the ongoing health emergency, confirmed the attention of all Member States towards projects in favor of the Multinational CIMIC Group, a department of excellence of the Italian Army specialized in cooperation with the population and civil authorities as well as with International Organizations in order to create that favorable environment for the performance of the tasks assigned in the context of multinational operations.
