The Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa has formalized the will to join the evaluation procedure of its training and research paths by the National Evaluation Agency of the University and Research System (ANVUR) chaired by prof. Antonio Felice Uricchio formerly magnificent rector of the University of Bari.

This initiative is fully part of the innovation and change process initiated as part of the Defense Training Enhancement project (VALFORDIFE) which, among other things, provides for the accreditation of the CASD as a Special Education High School. The evaluation procedure takes place every four years and, in this case, concerns the period 2015-2019.

An international Commission, made up of 600 university professors and researchers, will analyze a significant sample of the products published by the CASD researchers working within the Military Center for Research and Strategic Studies (CeMiSS) and by the researchers hired by the CASD with an annual contract. Furthermore, the training and research activity linked to the so-called "third mission" which concerns the contribution provided in support of civil society will be evaluated.

Upon joining the ANVUR protocol by the CASD, a procedure initiated for the first time by a military body, the air squad general Fernando Giancotti, president of the CASD and the VALFORDIFE Project, underlined how fundamental it was in a moment of emergency like this to give a strong signal of presence by operating without interruption in order not to compromise the work carried out so far and to achieve the objectives set in the delicate and strategic sector of training as soon as possible.

Officially requesting the evaluation by ANVUR means, in fact, wanting to validate the procedures and research paths used up to now in support of the request for recognition of the CASD as a Higher School with a Special System. Among other things, starting the procedure in this moment of emergency serves to send a strong signal of continuity to the entire country.

In fact, following the restrictions deriving from the Coronavirus emergency, the CASD immediately reorganized its governance and training activities using digital tools aimed at carrying out the planned training programs remotely. This is to protect the achievement of qualifications by all students at the closing date of the current academic year and to allow regular planning for the next one.

Furthermore, in order to further incentivize the "digital innovation" process which constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the VALFORDIFE project and given the "smart working" needs, further training opportunities were sought and identified, among which the stipulation of an agreement with The European House - Ambrosetti for the use of daily Webinars to which about 300 units have already had access, including Italian and foreign visitors as well as members of the permanent framework of the CASD.
