CASD: closing of the academic year and handover for the presidency of the Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa

The closing ceremony of the Academic Year 2020/21 took place this morning, in the historic headquarters of Palazzo Salviati, together with the handover for the presidency of the Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa (CASD) between the air squad general Fernando Giancotti and Division Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani.

The ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of State for Defense, Hon. Giorgio Mulè, the Defense Chief of Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli, as well as numerous civil and military authorities.

The Undersecretary of State for Defense stressed in his speech "The CASD is a center of excellence in training, it is a point of reference for NATO, for the Italian defense and for our entire country system. The pandemic has taught us, as never before, the value of skills, the need to rely on expert and capable people to face increasingly complex threats " also "CASD is a reference for research, for training on leadership and Change Management but also on innovation and, not to be overlooked, on logistics".

General Enzo Vecciarelli thanked the air squad general Fernando Giancotti for the goals achieved during his presidency of the CASD - "I thank you for your momentum and for the brilliant and far-sighted vision with which you conducted your mandate, confirming you as a precious interlocutor in adopting in an innovative way the structural changes that characterize the Defense sector, also as president of the project to enhance the training of the defense and the team of defense innovators " and added "The goal is to develop training courses that favor the interdisciplinary integration between the national academic world and research in the defense sector, integrating the university, post-graduate and research training system in support of the national productive and strategic sectors, industry included".
