(To Greater Defense)
28/07/16

Rome, in the presence of the head of the II Information and Security Department, gen. d. Giovanni Fungo, the change ceremony at the helm of the Joint Intelligence Center in Rome took place between the air brigadier general Giandomenico Taricco, who after three years of command, passed the baton to Brigadier General (Army) Fernando Paglialunga.

The Centro Intelligence Interforze is born the 1 January 1998, within the Department of Information and Security of the General Staff, in implementation of the dictates of the law of reform of military summits, through the suppression and contextual merger of SIOS (Operational Information Service and Situation) Armed Force and their respective Operations Centers, until then appointed to perform institutionally for military intelligence activities. In this way, the establishment of a single institution of the General Staff of Defense, appointed to carry out military technical tasks, achieved the objective of rationalizing the resources to better adapt them to the changed international needs and the defense sector.

In the course of the years, Center II has participated with its staff and its resources for all the important operational activities to protect the presidencies and the activities of the Armed Forces Abroad, by promoting our contingents in Operational Theater and Multinational Commands a precious contribution in terms of information and security.
