It lasted about ten days the intervention carried out by the divers of the Diving and Raiders Command of the Navy (Comsubin) and by the blasters of the 8 ° regiment genius guastatori paratroopers of Legnago of the brigade thunderbolt of the Italian Army in the waters of Lake Garda. A delicate operation that allowed the underwater removal and subsequent destruction in the quarry of 130 explosive explosive devices, around the island of Trimelone.

At the request of the municipality of Brenzone, the prefecture of Verona has arranged and coordinated an emergency reclamation intervention during which the Navy divers - posted to the SDAI Nucleus of Ancona (Sminamento Difesa Antimazzi Insidiosi) - have plunged to search and carry out the identification of magnetic iron anomalies, reported by a company specialized in this sector. The planned and conducted dives around the island have allowed to reclaim the seabed between the 40 and 50 meters of depth, thanks to the support of the hyperbaric structures supplied to the Subaquei Operating Group (GOS), like the trolleyable decompression chamber supplied to all the SDAI Units.

Among the 130 explosive devices removed by the Navy blasters are counted, among other things, 14 rifle bombs, 8 hand grenades, 48 medium caliber bullets, 8 of large caliber and 2 balestite barrels. All the material has been delivered to the blasters of the 8 ° regiment genius guastatori paratroopers of Legnago of the brigade thunderbolt of the Italian Army that will provide for their destruction in the quarry.

Army specialists form the EOD cores (Explosive Ordnance Disposal, ie clearing explosive devices) and have the competence for this type of interventions at national level, as well as having a long experience in operational missions carried out abroad in Kosovo, Lebanon and Afghanistan. This experience abroad, together with constant training, gives the Army specialists the "dual-use" connotation, ie the ability to intervene, in support of the national community, throughout the Italian territory.

During the 2018 Army blasters and the Navy divers have recovered and neutralized almost 50 thousand war residues, dating back to the first and second world war.
