Flight Safety Seminar

30/01/14

Yesterday, at the Ajmone Cat hall of Palazzo AM, the annual Flight Safety Seminar was held for the Commanders of the Wing and Flight Department of the Air Force.

The event, organized by the Inspectorate for Flight Safety, was also attended by the Chiefs of Staff and the Heads of the SV Office of the High Command and representatives of the Intermediate Commands.

The seminar was opened by the authoritative intervention of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Pasquale Preziosa, who underlined the importance of the role played by those present in the daily activities of the AOS. In fact, the Commanders identify themselves as the link between the men and women of the operational departments of the Armed Force and its top. Performing this task in the best possible way allows the Italian Air Force to optimize the available resources, while enhancing the skills of the personnel.

Subsequently, the Inspector for Flight Safety, General of the Air Brigade Amedeo Magnani, analyzed the main SV events of the 2013, highlighting the value of the "zero accident" target reached in the year just ended. General Magnani then commented on the serious flight disruptions that occurred in the 2013, recalling the effort that will have to be made this year to maintain the same standard. The seminar continued with a detailed analysis of the 2014 Prevention Program guidelines and an illustration of the CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) activity that will be introduced shortly in AM. This last one represents one of the most important objectives of the Inspectorate and the Superior Institute for Flight Safety for the current year. In fact, next May the training of the personnel identified to carry out the duties of "Peer", a key figure in CISM activity, which allows the first psycho-physiological intervention to support the personnel involved in potentially traumatic critical events, will begin.

The event ended with the intervention of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force, the Heads of the General Staff, the General Office for Communication and the USAM (Airspace and Meteorology Office), as well as the Director of DIPMA (Directorate for the Employment of Air Force Military Personnel). The leaders of the Armed Force intervened to illustrate the future guidelines of the AOS and at the same time collect the main issues with a common factor that emerge at the peripheral level. Precisely the direct and immediate exchange of information between those present represented the added value of the seminar, a fundamental appointment for pursuing the important final goal of the Air Force: safe operation.
