Handling over of the corps of the aeronautical genius between General Di Martino and General Lupoli

On Wednesday 23 March, at the "Cortile dei Trasvolatori" of Palazzo Aeronautica, the alternation ceremony in the position of head of the aeronautical engineer corps was held, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force - Air Team General Luca Goretti, between the chief inspector general Basilio Di Martino and the gen. isp. (prom.) Giuseppe Antonio Lupoli.

The event was attended by numerous authorities and guests and a representation of military personnel from the corps of aeronautical engineers.

In the farewell salute, the head of the corps of the outgoing genius gen. isp. Capo Di Martino, after having greeted the head of SMA and the guests present, and thanked the Air Force for what it has given him in more than 46 years of service, expressed the pride of having been able to drive, in the last four years, the body of the aeronautical genius. "An atypical organization", underlined the gen. Di Martino, "which has no structure or organization charts of its own, because it does not need it, and which is intimately connected with the largest structure of the Air Force, in whose articulations it is fully integrated, contributing to perform those functions that in the last written of his first boss, General Guidoni, are so well defined ".

General Di Martino then urged the body "to continue on its path with the usual high professionalism, having the operations of the Armed Force as its guiding star and maintaining the capacity to respond to change that is typical of successful organizations unaltered" and after having formulated to the gen. Lupoli an affectionate good luck, underlining that the baton he left could not end up in better hands, then concluded: "Lastly, on the day in which I conclude my period of active service, allow me to greet with particular affection my classmates, and with them our godparents of Corso Rostro, first of all General Arpino, and the representatives of Corso Rostro III and of the Rostro IV course. Thank you for being here on the day the Rostro II leaves the scene after more than 46 years from its entry into the Aeronautical Academy, 46 years in which it has served with absolute honesty of purpose and with the serene awareness of duty accomplished, as it is in the style of the Air Force and the R courses. I am proud to be here today to greet, in the name of the whole course, the Armed Force to which we have dedicated our lives ".

The gen. isp. Lupoli expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force for the trust placed in him in entrusting him with the delicate task and, at the same time, expressed "the first and deferential thought to all those who by serving and honoring the flag of the Air Force have lost their lives: may their example always guide and stimulate us". He then invited the personnel of the body of the aeronautical genius to continue to express his precious support as they always have done in the world of the now five dimensions: "The men and women of the aeronautical genius corps, today as in the past, are and will be able to confirm themselves as multifaceted and highly specialized excellences and I am sure that they will continue to embody the emblem of a professional history written over time, hand in hand with the others extraordinary professional components of the Air Force ". Finally, General Lupoli, entrusting his work in the protective hands of the Virgin of Loreto, took the opportunity to extend a warm greeting to General Di Martino, whose person has represented a point of reference and an absolute example for the body of the genius aeronautical.

The ceremony ended with the intervention of the head of SMA who greeted all those present and addressed a heartfelt thanks to gen. isp. Di Martino leader for the work done for the Air Force during his professional life and a sincere wish for good work to the gen. isp. Lupoli. He also highlighted the importance of the team spirit of the Air Force of which the body of the aeronautical genius is an essential and integral part.
