Palazzo Aeronautica opens to the public on the first weekend of October for "Open House Rome"

The institutional headquarters of the Air Force will be one of the architectural sites of historical interest in Rome that will be opened and can be visited for free on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October. On this occasion it will be possible to visit the photographic exhibition "The winged palace", dedicated to the history of Palazzo AM, which will be exhibited in the Historical Rooms. Visitors will also be able to appreciate some of the most important works of the master Marcello Dudovich, recently brought to light with a careful restoration work by the Superintendency of Archaeological Heritage of the Municipality of Rome.

By participating in this event, the Air Force, in addition to paying homage to its institutional headquarters, wants to contribute to the national initiative of Open House, which dedicates a month to architecture in its four Italian offices. An event that once again allows the Armed Force to convey to citizens its identity, its glorious past and the will to preserve and preserve it. Palazzo AM is an evocative building, which highlights the progress of the last century, a place capable of arousing important emotions, not only for art and architecture connoisseurs but above all for those who love or simply want to get closer to the world and aeronautical and space culture.

Open House Rome is an annual event that in a single weekend provides the opportunity to access - totally free - to sites and buildings characterized by particular architectural and artistic peculiarities. The initiative pays particular attention not only to the historical heritage, but also and above all to the modern and contemporary one in which Palazzo AM is fully inserted. The visits will take place starting at 9.00 am, with last admission at 17.30 pm and access every 30 minutes from Viale Università 4.

The activity will be carried out in full compliance with current anti-covid legislation (to participate in the visit it is necessary to present a valid Green Pass / Green Certification).

The Air Force, which with responsible commitment protects and enhances the cultural heritage entrusted to it by history, periodically opens the doors of its Palace, built in just two years by the young architect Roberto Marino and custodian of extraordinary architectural and pictorial works unique in the panorama of rationalism Italian, allowing enthusiasts or simply curious to admire the Piazzale with the Lapidary, the Fountain of the Atlanteans, the Grand Staircase, the Noble Rooms, rich in historical relics and beautiful wall paintings that testify the fascinating history of the Italian Air Force .
