The AM Specialist School inaugurates the 1st course for Aeronautical Maintenance Technicians in the European environment AER (EP) P-147

Wednesday 6 October 2021, in the presence of civil and military authorities, on the Piazzale del Bandiere della School Specialists of the Air Force, the 1st course for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians was inaugurated in accordance with the AER.P-66 and AER.P-147 certification standards for basic training (Basic training) of the maintainers of the Air Force.

The course, started on October 4, 2021, is composed of 56 attendees of which 28 Mechanical Maintenance Managers and 28 Avionics and Aircraft Maintenance Managers who have already begun the study of the subjects provided for by the AER.P-66 regulation, in compliance with a standardized training course at a community level which includes, among other things, the study of numerous technical-scientific subjects, such as mathematics, physics, aerotechnics, aerodynamics, air propulsion, electronics and on-board avionics. The course will last from 18 to 22 months, according to the category of assignment of the attendees, and represents one of the most important achievements recently, from the training point of view, by the School Specialists A.M.

La School Specialists of the Air Force is reconfiguring itself as MTO (Maintenance Training Organization), in compliance with the European Technical Prescription AER (EP) P-147. This legislation in fact reshapes the future prospects of the maintenance course, significantly innovating the way of training maintenance by introducing the concepts of standardization of programs and study methods and introducing a significant and demanding phase of practical maintenance training that will take place on aircraft, engines and on-board systems from the flight departments of the Armed Forces.

Colonel Roberto Impegno, commander of the School of Specialists AM, in his speech, greeted the agreed authorities and then thanked the command schools of the Air Force / 3rd Air Region for the trust placed in the personnel of the School Specialists as well as the team command and the logistic command for the agreed support and the Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness (ARMAEREO) for the role of address and guide in the complex AER (EP) P-147 certification process. He then, addressing the visitors, said: "The new training course in a certified environment will guarantee you future maintenance technicians of the Air Force, now course attendees of the Specialist School, greater flexibility of use, with a view to interoperability in the European context. The training course you have just started will allow you to acquire a solid specialized training such as to allow you to carry out your task with extreme professionalism in areas of use with a highly technological connotation and in highly challenging contexts, both in Italy and abroad ".

The inauguration of the 1st course for Aircraft Maintenance Managers in the new certified training environment is part of a development path that provides for a substantial increase in the quality and quantity of practical training for Aircraft Maintenance Managers through the use of a maintenance hangar, of room in Grazzanise (CE), set up with three aircraft to be used for training in a real maintenance environment.

The new training course also includes the use of new multimedia information technologies and the flight simulator that the respondent authorities were able to appreciate in the visit dedicated to the new laboratories of the School Specialists AM, which took place after the military ceremony.

For the historic Military Institute of Caserta, the AER (EP) P-147 certification concerns the basic training of maintenance technicians and will guarantee the development of a complete and integrated path for obtaining the Military Aircraft Maintenance License - MAML), thus increasing the role of the School as a training center of excellence in the national and international field.

The Specialist School is a military educational institute for initial basic training, specialized technical training, training, updating, specialization, qualification and retraining of the personnel of the Air Force, of the Other Armed Forces, Armed and non-State Armed Corps, as well as of personnel of foreign Armed Forces. It depends on the command of the Schools / 3rd Air Region based in Bari.
