The fanfare of the 1st air region command at the 62nd international military pilgrimage to Lourdes

As part of the 62nd international military pilgrimage which was held in Lourdes from 12 to 16 May 2022, the fanfare of the 1st air region command, directed by the master 1st lieutenant Vincenzo Carmine Cozza, accompanied all the protocol events and ceremonies religious, in which 14.000 military pilgrims from 40 countries took part, including a large national representation. 

During the pilgrimage, the musical team performed on several occasions: on the morning of May 12, at the airport, upon the arrival of the military ordinary, Monsignor Santo Marcianò, and of the Italian religious and military representatives, to then participate, in the afternoon, to the recitation of the rosary in the Grotto of Massabielle and in the evening to the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Church of Santa Bernadette; on May 13, in addition to participating in the morning Holy Mass and the recitation of the rosary in the Grotto of Massabielle, an exhibition was held in the evening for the ceremony of the official opening of the pilgrimage at the underground Basilica of Saint Pius X; on May 14, the fanfare was performed at the Basilica of the Holy Rosary, on the occasion of the departure and arrival of the procession that participated in the "Via Crucis" and finally on Sunday May 15, the fanfare accompanied the Holy Mass at the Basilica of San Pius X, while in the same location he held an evening concert opened by the French and Italian national anthem, and then ranged from classical music to arrangements of soundtracks and modern music. 

The 1st Air Region Command is a leading body of the armed force which has the mission of "ensuring the territorial functions and liaison with the Territorial / Local Authorities and Administrations".
