In recent days, an exercise was carried out to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the Medevac (Medical Evacuation) organizational structure at theItalian National Contingent Command air and Kuwait Air Task Force.
The exercise, which took place under the supervision of the commander of the national contingent, Colonel Matteo Zuliani, was conducted by the task group medal, with C-130J aircraft, involving the healthcare personnel of the Role1 (base medical post), the Air Force Protection Unit riflemen, the logistics support personnel joint multimodal operational unit, the technical logistics services group and the fire department of the US Air Force.
The trained personnel tested the correct functioning of the electromedical devices, while the Air Force riflemen trained to carry out a tactical mission. The aircraft crew then prepared to board the patient and a real flight was carried out, also simulating some evasive maneuvers to be implemented in the event of a threat.
The exercise concluded with the landing of the C-130J and the handing over of the patient to the medical personnel who arrived by ambulance. During the exercise, to test the USAF Fire Department's intervention methods and timing, a rapid abandonment of the aircraft (emergency ground evacuation) was simulated, with the extraction of an unconscious crew member.
At the end of the exercise, Colonel Zuliani, after having underlined the importance of the Medevac operational capacity in such a complex and articulated Theater of Operations, complimented all the personnel for the professionalism shown during the test.
