The Head of SMA pointed out that the 46 ^ BA expresses the values of the operational fulcrum of the Air Force, "the fulcrum represented by the professionalism of its personnel, by constant sacrifice", as demonstrated precisely in the management of a critical emergency in flight.
The Precious General speaking directly to the protagonists said: "you have operated with high capacity, as individuals and as a team, very good!".
During the mission, the crew, belonging to the 50 ° Flight Group, had found a total failure in the hydraulic systems and immediately directed the aircraft over the sea and towards the mother base, communicating to the Air Traffic Bodies of Pisa the need to carry out an emergency landing. With extreme skill, the staff therefore managed all the phases of the emergency, restoring the necessary functions to complete the mission and land on the Tuscan airport.
The Air Force crews are able to deal with this type of situation thanks to continuous training, also performed through flight simulators, thanks to which pilots can learn to deal with complex situations, remaining in total safety.
