“…I am proud of your work and I ask you to continue on this extraordinary path, without sparing energy, because only in this way will it be possible to express those logistical capabilities that have now become indispensable and enabling of aerospace power and confirm the importance of the role of the technical center supplies within the logistics segment of the Armed Forces...".

It is with these words that the head of the support service, Brigadier General Francesco De Simone, addressed all the staff of the technical supply center in Fiumicino (RM) during the handover ceremony between Colonel Gaetano Fusco, commander outgoing, and Colonel Massimo Cionfrini, incoming.

The event, which took place on the morning of Thursday 18 July, enjoyed the participation of the mayor of the Municipality of Fiumicino, the Hon. Mario Baccini, numerous civil and military authorities in the area, as well as the Combatant and Armed Forces Associations and the commanders of the bodies dependent on the technical supply centre.

“…The Frecce Tricolori tour of North America and the air campaign in the Indo-Pacific region are underway right now…”. He continued the general. De Simone in reference to the training activities which, in recent weeks, have seen the involvement of the Air Force. “…Let me express my heartfelt recognition for the exceptional customs and organizational support that the CTR staff and its dependent bodies are ensuring, thousands of kilometers away, to all the Armed Forces departments involved in these two particularly complex from a logistical point of view...".

Colonel Fusco in his farewell speech addressed words of thanks to the women and men of the center for the support received during the period of command. “…The technical supply center, as the nerve center for the logistics of the Armed Forces, silently carries out an activity that is actually essential to ensure the full operation of the Armed Forces departments. Believe me – he underlined, addressing the deployed personnel directly – it would not be possible to carry out such a complex and delicate institutional mission without the professionalism, technical ability and exemplary self-denial that you know how to express in every activity...".

After the symbolic passing of the baton, Colonel Cionfrini took the floor and, in expressing sincere gratitude towards the superior authorities for having been designated as the new commander, said: “…honored to take command of an entity entrusted with such an important task: ensuring that the necessary resources arrive efficiently and promptly to all Air Force Departments, the operational ones first and foremost. Side by side, we will continue along the growth path started by those who preceded us, to continue to express cutting-edge technical capabilities in the supply chain sector, to be able to respond with ever greater promptness and competence to today's needs and of tomorrow…".
