RAMSTEIN APEX '14 tutorial

07/03/14

From the 3 to the 6 March, the NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Center (DACCC) of Poggio Renatico (FE) hosted members of the AIRCOM Headquarters of Ramstein (Germany), of the Combined Air Operation Center (CAOC) of Torrejon (Spain) and the CAOC of Uedem (Germany) for the RAMSTEIN APEX 14 exercise (RAX14).

The RAMSTEIN APEX is a Command Post Exercise (CPX) / Synthetic Exercise (SYNEX) exercise, which takes place every year to train Deployable Air Operations Centers (DAOCs) dependent on AIRCOM Ramstein.

The RAX14 was conducted on a scenario simulating a peace support operation specifically built for training in the Operations (OPS) and Master Air Operations Plan (MAOP) sectors.

The purpose and objective of RAX14 is to exercise and train the Joint Force Air Component (JFAC) of the NATO Command structure, with particular reference to the Combat Plans Division, Combat Ops Division and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Division, necessary for DAOCs activities .

The exercise also allowed to test the operational and tactical information flow between AIRCOM and the Poggio Renatico DACCC. The RAX14 is the starting point for the RAMSTEIN AMBITION II exercise, which will involve the complete JFAC structure in an Air Heavy Campaign scenario.

The NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Center (DACCC) of Poggio Renatico is a command and control center for air operations that NATO will be able to redeploy in theater or operational for the management of Alliance air operations. The DACCC also ensures the training of NATO's international personnel destined to operate in its own fixed command and control centers (CAOC) and reportable (DAOC).
