Air Force helicopter in support of the population of Modena

An HH-3F helicopter of the 83 ° SAR group (Search and Rescue) of the 15 ° flock of the Air Force took off from the Cervia base (RA) to support activities in favor of the population in the area of Modena, hit by the bad weather emergency.

After take-off, ordered by the Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE), the helicopter headed for Bastiglia (MO), where it helped search for people in difficulty following the flooding of the Secchia river.

In particular, the operations center of the Fire Brigade, with functions of coordination of research, assigned to the HH-3F a large area in the area of ​​Bastiglia, between the river Secchia and the Panaro River and the crew beat the area for about 2 hours looking for any people in danger both on the roofs of the cottages and on the roads, bringing the situation back to the operational center and helping to provide a picture, as up-to-date and accurate as possible, of the situation.

At the end of the activity, the helicopter of the 15 ° flock landed on the Bologna airport, where the crew remains ready for any further interventions to support the population.

The 83 ° SAR group is employed by the 15 ° flock of Cervia (RA), the department that through its operational centers also located on Pratica di Mare (RM), Gioia del Colle (BA), Trapani and Decimomannu (CA) , guarantees the search and rescue service for the Italian Air Force, 24 hours on 24, every day of the year. It also contributes to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, emergency medical transport of sick people in danger of life and the rescue of serious traumatized persons.

Since its inception, the crews of the 15th wing have saved around 7.000 people in danger of life.
