Air Force helicopter contributes to the rescue of two hikers

An 139rd Center HH-83B helicopter Combat Search & Rescue of the 15th wing of the Air Force intervened yesterday evening, Thursday 10 February, to search and rescue two hikers who were stranded on Mount Murano, in Serra San Quirico (AN) in the Marche Apennines.

The military helicopter, one of the assets of the Armed Force always ready for take-off on the national territory also for this type of intervention, activated by Rescue Coordination Center of the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE), immediately took off from the military airport of Cervia, headquarters of the 15th wing of the Italian Air Force, and headed to the area of ​​operations to begin searches.

Once the hikers had been identified, the military crew, having found it impossible to carry out a recovery with a winch due to the critical wind conditions, supported the technicians of the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps delle Marche and that of the SAF nucleus (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) of National Body of Fire the land.

In particular, thanks to the use of some lighthouses and the use of special equipment the HH-139B military helicopter is equipped with, it was possible to support and direct the rescuers towards the two hikers in difficulty.
