On Friday 13 December, at the headquarters of the 46th Air Brigade in Pisa, an intense training process aimed at maintaining the operational capabilities of the air rifle personnel of the 16th “Force Protection” Wing concluded.

The training, which lasted three weeks, covered several aspects of a fundamental nature for the fulfillment of the national and international missions entrusted to qualified Air Riflemen (FCA) personnel.

This was an activity conducted by the third Company of the FCA Battalion, preparatory to the satisfaction of the “continuous training” and, for the first time, carried out entirely at the 46th Battalion headquarters, for the benefit of the personnel operating at the Pisa service headquarters.

The training cycles and subjects covered were numerous, including Ground Combat Training (ACT), Topography, Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) indoctrination, Air Mobility Protection Team (AMPT) including Evasion Plan of Action (EPA) procedures and live fire activity in static and dynamic modes.

The latter, specifically, involved real practical shooting (Live Fire), preceded by theoretical lessons and so-called “dry fire” shooting (Dry Fire). For this purpose, areas and shooting ranges outside the brigade’s airport premises were used.

The training also covered the employment of the Fusiliers in complex environments, such as those contaminated by Chemical, Bacteriological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats.

The activities carried out confirm that the recent transfer of the third Air Rifle Company to the headquarters of the 46th Air Brigade allows for the activation of important synergies and new training opportunities for the Air Rifleman/Flight Crew duo.
