The aviator Luigi Gnecchi is now one hundred years old

Class 1914, Luigi Gnecchi joined the Accademia Aeronautica with the Pegaso course in the 1935; four years later, during the Spanish war, he was already the head of a Fiat Br 20 bombing squadron, a commitment that earned him the first of two silver medals for military value that he still jealously guards at his home in Lecco .

The same acknowledgment came to him instead for the missions carried out during the second world war, in the battle of England, to which Gnecchi participated with the 43 ° Stormo Bombardamento, always as head crew of a "Cicogna", as in jargon the twin engine was identified by bombing produced by Fiat starting from the 30 years.

On the occasion, the chief of staff of the Air Force, general of the air squad Pasquale Preziosa, wanted to convey to Luigi Gnecchi the wish and the closeness of the whole armed force for the important anniversary. "Luigi Gnecchi's passion, courage and competence have always been the patrimony of the Air Force personnel, values ​​to which it is essential to continue to refer in today's commitments and tomorrow's challenges, also to the memory of those who, for those values, they sacrificed their lives in the past ".
