On Monday 12 October, in the operational base of Poggio Renatico (FE), the alternation ceremony for the command of the General Services Support Department (RSSG) between col. Vincenzo Girardi, outgoing commander and col. Antonino Monaco, incoming commander.
Chaired by the commander of Aerospace Operations Command (COA), general of air division Claudio Gabellini, the ceremony, although reduced in numbers in compliance with the provisions on combating the spread of COVID-19, culminated with the review of the military and civil representatives of the department and the reading of the handover formula given by the outgoing commander.
The emotion in the intervention of Colonel Girardi is evident who, in recalling some of the events of particular importance that characterized his three years of command, underlined how at the time of taking office he had asked for "collaboration of staff to improve the quality of support and the image of the Operational and Logistics Base. What has been achieved is truly significant because it is implemented by non-commissioned officers and troops who have been able to act with a spirit of service and availability". He concluded by stating: "I gave my all to the Armed Force, I have always fought to achieve that result that was first of the Armed Force, then mine. I leave with the serenity of having always tried to give my best".
Similarly, the col. Monaco, showing the desire to continue to guarantee maximum support to the AOC and to the NATO organizations and agencies that insist on the Poggio Renatico site "in an atmosphere of serene and transparent bilateral collaboration", he addressed the men and women of the ward recalling how "Professionalism, seriousness and ethical standards are the basis for building credibility and trusting relationships with the world around us. Seriousness is rigor in carrying out an activity. Being professional largely means being organized. This translates into self-discipline. , advance planning, concrete plans, effective structure. Professionalism means having a good work ethic, it means doing everything you are called to do in the best possible way ".
The commander of the AOC, Air Division General Claudio Gabellini in his speech, first of all expressed his applause for the work of the RSSG under the leadership, defined as "tireless", of Colonel Girardi, at the same time encouraging all the staff to persevere with unchanged "enthusiasm and desire to do".
"It is the duty of every commander - General Gabellini said in his speech - try to live up to the professionalism and excellence of our staff, working tirelessly to recognize everyone the dignity, respect and consideration that everyone deserves ".
