Tuesday saw the handover to the top of the command of the 2 Division of the Logistics Command AM between the outgoing Brigadier General Liberato Mascagna, and the inspector general Pierluigi Ciardelli, the incoming commander.

Numerous military and civil authorities participated in the ceremony, attended by the logistic commander, general of the aerial team Gabriele Salvestroni, as well as the commanders / directors of the bodies / departments employed by the 2 division.

General Mascagna, in the course of his speech, retraced the salient phases that characterized his period of command, underlining how the assigned objectives were achieved "thanks to a commendable teamwork carried out together with all the personnel of the 2nd division "To whom he expressed a particular thanks" that comes from the bottom of the heart ". The general also wanted to thank the logistic commander for "the privilege he has been granted in commanding such a prestigious and important division and for the trust that has been given to him".

General Ciardelli, in turn, thanked the superior authorities for the "sign of great trust placed in him when last year it was decided to wait for his return from abroad to grant him the burden and the honor of becoming the commander of the 2nd division ". Finally, he thanked General Mascagna who," in this last semester has worked hard to deliver a motivated, concrete and responsible division ".

General Salvestroni, during his speech, thanked General Mascagna for the important and prestigious goals achieved. Finally, he wished General Ciardelli and all the "good work" staff with the hope of achieving ever greater and prestigious goals.

Inspector General Pierluigi Ciardelli, born in Florence on 15.09.1954, enrolled in 1973 with the Orione 3 ° course of the aeronautical academy and graduated in electronic engineering from the Polytechnic of Naples in 1978. Over the years he has lent service as a technical officer at the 2nd GEV in Grosseto and the MBB industrial plant in Ottobrun in Germany. From 2002 to 2004 he was director of the 1st aircraft maintenance department in Cameri, with a secondary role as commander of the 8th group engine maintenance in Novara until the time of the transfer of this body within the same 1st RMV. He spent most of his career in the world of logistics, working mainly at the FA logistic command where, among other held positions as office manager and department head at the 2nd division, interspersed with three years of experience at NETMA in Munich in the logistic support sector of the Eur ofighter. In the early 90s he obtained a master's degree in business administration (Logistics) at USAF air university in Ohio and in the academic year 2008-2009 he attended the Istituto Alti Studi della Difesa in Rome. a brigadier general which took place in July 2009, he once again served in the logistics command AM, where he held the position of deputy chief of staff and head of certification office. From the beginning of 2011 he held the position of commercial director at NETMA di Munich, before being reassigned to the logistic command and appointed commander of the 2nd division.Promoted general inspector of aeronautical engineering on 1 January 2013. During his career he was awarded the Mauritian Medal and was appointed Officer of the Order to the Merit of the Republic.
