From May 4th to 8th, the Air Force participated in the Brave Bedouin 2025, a joint and multinational exercise dedicated to the operational response to CBRN threats – Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear – which took place in Skive, Denmark, at the CBRN area control center Denmark.

Now in its 46th edition, the activity involved 19 NATO member countries in a context of strategic cooperation to strengthen the interoperability and standardization of technical-operational procedures in the CBRN field.

The training objective of the exercise was to consolidate the skills of Warning & Reporting, as required by the NATO ATP-45 manual. The operators worked in simulated data collection and management environments, processing complex scenarios in real time, thanks to the use of software dedicated to the evaluation and dissemination of operational information.

The Italian Air Force took part in the activity with over 30 highly qualified specialists, coming from different departments of the Armed Forces, including the 3rd Wing of Villafranca (VR), a reference point for logistics and support capabilities in the CBRN field. In the perspective of inter-force integration, 9 operators of the Navy also operated alongside the Air Force, actively contributing to the development of training activities.

Each day of the exercise included independent scenarios, designed to test the speed of response, the effectiveness of information flows and cooperation with other participating countries. The simulations were designed to induce operational stress and evaluate the ability of operators to react in time compatible with the decision-making process, while maintaining efficiency and self-control.

The participation of the Air Force in the Brave Bedouin 2025 It is part of the Armed Forces' broader commitment to advanced training and education in the CBRN field, consolidating its presence in the main NATO and European operations. A strategic capability that contributes concretely to collective defense and international security, in full synergy with the other Armed Forces and Allied partners.
