On Wednesday 15 January, three other Kuwaiti pilot students arrived at the military airport "F. Cesari" in Galatina (LE) to attend the III and IV phases of military flight training.

The young officers coming from the Arabian peninsula will immediately start the course aimed at obtaining the military pilot's license (phase III), and then continue with the Lead-In to Fighter Training course, a prerequisite for the launch of the navigating personnel on the aerotactic lines (phase IV).

The arrival of foreign students is grafted on the growth path, also internationally, that the Armed Forces has planned for the Galatina air base, which has always been a focal point in the professional training of a military pilot, responding to new training needs and international commitments undertaken by the Air Force and assigned to the 61 ° Stormo already starting from 2014.

At the moment, in addition to the Kuwaiti students, another three arrived last June are completing phase III, students from Singapore, Austrian instructors and students, Greek instructors and students, an Argentine instructor and a French instructor are assigned to the Salento Flying School. and the interest from many other countries, both European and non-European, continues to grow in order to train in Italy.

Colonel Sergio Cavuoti, Commander of the 61 ° Stormo, declared "the ever-growing presence of foreign students on the military airport of Galatina does nothing but confirm the recent growth prospects planned for the Italian Sheppard; it is yet another signal from which shows that, in the current scenario of massive transformation of the military instrument and of massive containment of financial and human resources, the Department, as a niche of excellence in the training sector, is recognized a high degree of futurability and, therefore, remains one of the Bodies on which the Armed Forces has decided to focus for the years to come ".
