The first meeting of the presidents and referents of the entities of the logistics command took place on March 17 and 18, chaired by the general of the air force Antonio Conserva, assisted by the president of non-commissioned officers, graduates and soldiers of the ranks (SGMT), 1st lieutenant Roberto Carpentieri, aimed at experiential exchange and communication and training promotion.
The event, attended by 71 SGMT presidents and referents from the various entities of the logistics command, took place in the presence of the commanders and gender advisor of the 8 intermediate branches of the logistics command and of illustrious guests and speakers, such as the Air Force General Francesco Vestito, director of the DIPMA, the Air Brigade General Alberto Surace, head of the 1st SMA department and the Air Brigade General Roberto Del Vecchio, head of the 3rd SMA department.
The activities started in the Sala Visconti of Palazzo Aeronautica, with the welcome address of the logistics commander, promoter of the initiative defined “an opportunity for learning, comparison and reflection aimed at identifying the different interests, needs and aspirations of men and women of the logistics command aimed at supporting commanders in adopting an adaptive leadership”.
Sealing the importance of the meeting was the greeting address of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti, who in his speech defined the figure of the SGMT president/referent “the backbone of our organization, always attentive and aware of the various problems of the personnel of the institutions, able to provide invaluable feedback to the commanders to better direct the Command policy”.
This was followed by a greeting from the President of the Air Force, 1st Lieutenant Mario Bonaventura, who in his speech underlined how significant the organization of the meeting had been, tangible evidence of the attention paid to the crucial role of the SGMT President and the sensitivity towards all personnel, underlining the importance of "working on young people" and inviting them to "participate in the command action".
The activities continued with the intervention of the president of the non-commissioned officers, graduates and soldiers of the logistic command, 1st lieutenant Roberto Carpentieri who emphasized the importance of the network constituted by all the presidents/referents and on the essentiality of mutual communication and sharing of experiences. “This first meeting is a further opportunity for the presidents/referents to grow and share issues aimed at improving command action and at the same time a tangible sign of attention and importance that our high command, and the entire FA, attributes to the most important resource of our organization: the staff”.
Then General Francesco Vestito, Director of DIPMA, took the floor and offered a broad overview of the current methods of employing personnel and defined the role of the president. “the Armed Forces Megaphone, the one who communicates the command action and makes the commander's voice reach everyone and vice versa”.
Following, the speech of Gen. Alberto Surace, head of the 1st SMA department, who outlined the of the Armed Forces of employment, focusing on current recruitment campaigns, future forecasts and actions underway to overcome the numerical criticalities of personnel in the various roles of the FA.
Gen. Roberto Del Vecchio, head of the 3rd SMA department, illustrated the current situation of the international scenario, changeable and highly competitive, characterized by a very rapid technological progress and placed the emphasis on operational planning and on the future prospects of the means and resources that will be used by the Air Force.
He then took the floor gender advisor of the logistics command, Captain Francesca Niola, who briefly outlined the founding concepts of the doctrine of gender equality and the points of similarity between the figure of the gender advisor and the president of the non-commissioned officers.
Finally, the day ended with a open discussion where those present were able to expand on the topics previously discussed and directly engage with the top of their own hierarchical line on issues of common interest, receiving timely feedback on specific aspects of the peripheral organization.
