Italian Air Force: first 130 VFI airmen of the Ladone II course assigned to the Armed Forces departments

Thursday, November 21, at the Volunteer School of the AM of Taranto, the activities related to the assignment to the Armed Forces departments of the attendees of the VFI “Ladone II” course – 2nd incorporation of 2024 of the initial-term volunteers (VFI) were carried out. The activities were conducted by the personnel of the Air Force military personnel employment directorate and chaired by the director of the DIPMA, Air Force squadron general Francesco Vestito. 

Welcomed by Colonel Alessandro Del Buono, commander of the Volunteer School of the AM of Taranto (SVAM), General Vestito met the airmen in the “Italo Balbo” great hall and during his speech he wanted to remind the entire class of the value of the life choice made at the time of enlistment, in particular he underlined the need to always fulfill, with deep conviction and motivation, one's duty in defense of national interests and, continuing in his speech, he wanted to underline how “the daily commitment will allow each one to achieve important personal and professional satisfactions” concluding with the exhortation: “always work as a team so that the Armed Forces can fulfill their institutional commitments in Italy and abroad”.

The works, coordinated by the staff of the IV office of the DIPMA, involved the first group of 130 airmen, belonging to the categories support/IT and cybernetics e technical support/services, while in the next few days the attendees will also complete the course operations – protection and special forces, firefighting e administration services.

This activity represents the culmination of the training path that began last September 16th and which saw SVAM engaged in the training of 475 airmen attending VFI in the basic and specialist phases.

The competition for the recruitment of 1050 initial-term volunteers is currently underway, which will expire on November 30th and will concern the Air Force recruitment campaign for the year 2025.

The SVAM is the only national education and training center that provides the basic military and moral training of troops destined to serve in the Air Force, as well as the related specific professional education. The School depends on the schools command of the AM/3rd air region, one of the three top commands of the Armed Forces which has the task of ensuring the selection, recruitment, military, cultural and professional training of Air Force personnel and the flight training (internationally), through the study and adoption of innovative teaching and training methodologies focused on the learner and based on innovation, creativity, optimization of human and material resources, eco-sustainability, constant comparison with institutions and the territory serving the community.
