Since 10 March, the 83 ° CSAR group (Combat Search and Rescue) of the 15 ° flock of Cervia (RA) guarantees the national SAR alarm service with the new HH-139A helicopter.

Thus, for the group, a page of history lasting more than 30 years closes; a long period in which hundreds of men have come and gone, with professionalism, dedication and passion, in carrying out the mission assigned through the use of the HH-3F helicopter, now close to final disposal.

The training process, which involved pilots, on-board operators and flight crew of the flight group, went through courses, theoretical and flight, managed by the 81 ° CAE group (Crew Training Center) of the 15 ° flock of Cervia, which has the task of treating the training and the "passage of the machine" on the new department set-up.

The HH-139A it is an extremely versatile helicopter that, thanks to the complete and modern avionics and sensor configuration, is able to operate in any weather condition and in any environmental context. It was conceived to be used in multiple types of mission, since it can be configured for search and rescue on the sea and on land, for urgent medical transport or for the simple transport of medical personnel / teams, with a number of passengers which can go up to 14 units.

The 83rd CSAR group operates under the 15 ° flock of Cervia (RA), the department which through its operational centers located in Gioia del Colle, Pratica di Mare (RM), Trapani, Decimomannu (CA) and, indeed, Cervia, guarantees 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, also contributing to public utility activities such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, medical transport of urgency of life-threatening patients and the help of serious traumatized patients.
