Rear Admiral Jorge Cuadros, commander of the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems command Atlantic, visited the US Army Garrison Italy on February 5 to review the progress of the project Army Family Housing, worth $500 million.
The project calls for the construction of 478 modern housing units by 2028, with amenities such as playgrounds, dog parks and recreational trails. The new residences will include apartments, townhouses and single-family homes with 3-5 bedrooms. Caserma Ederle will have 50 apartments, while the Village will offer a residential environment with amenities designed for the military community, including a central pavilion and safe walking routes to schools.
During the visit, Cuadros received an update from NAVFAC officials on the progress of the work and met with local authorities. The project, considered a priority for the US Army Garrison Italy, aims to improve the quality of life of the families of military personnel assigned to the Southern European Task Force, Africa and the 173rd Airborne Brigade, providing sustainable and energy-efficient housing solutions.
The visit of Rear Admiral Cuadros underlined the commitment of the military leaders to guarantee the best living conditions and support to the families of the military stationed in Italy.
