The White House has already considered a possible evacuation of the Americans present in Libya, following the umpteenth political crisis that has upset the country and could trigger a new wave of violence against Westerners.

No decision has yet been made, but the first rescue operation should involve all personnel present at the US embassy in Tripoli.

Meanwhile, troops continue to arrive at the US base in Sigonella, Sicily. Over 250 are the Marines deployed in base, while the Osprey landed at the Naval Air Station rise to eight. Finally, three KC-130Js landed.

The situation in Libya is constantly monitored, but the tension could skyrocket in no time. In that case, the exfiltration of Americans in the country would become a priority.

The State Department has no element in Benghazi: all personnel are based in Tripoli.

After the unrest in recent days in Tripoli and Benghazi, the Libyan electoral commission announced the election of the new parliament with a date set for the next 25 June.

The "Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response Unit", based in Spain, at the Moron base, was established last year following attacks on the US diplomatic headquarters in Benghazi, Libya. It should be noted that the unit is mobility periodically in relation to potential threats in Africa.

If the situation requires it, the United States could mobilize in less than 4 hours another thousand marines from the Spanish base. The Aviano base was also alerted, as well as the rapid intervention groups present in the Mediterranean Sea.

For the US Department of Defense "the Marines in Sicily are ready to protect the personnel in service in the American plants in North Africa".
