A special suit for the Royal Marines

A video of the British company Gravity Industries shows Royal Marines operators boarding a naval unit wearing a jetpack, that is a suit equipped with a jet engine that allows you to take off from one boat and land on another much higher than the one you started from.

Obviously, such equipment would see an optimal use for boarding operations, instead of almost Rope (rapid descent with rope) from helicopter. The suit would allow British Marines to land quickly on the deck of a ship, having their hands free to use a weapon immediately.

In October 2019, on an experimental basis, the suit jetpack was equipped with a 12-gauge shotgun mounted on the shoulder and controlled by a helmet.

The main users of the suit could be the 42 Commando MOC (Maritime Operations Commando) and the 43 FPGRM command (Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines). These two departments are specifically addressed to maritime missions and are intended to operate in three distinct areas with their own embarked nuclei.

The tasks of the two Commandos range from the close protection of military and merchant units against asymmetrical threats, to the defense of the main ships of the Royal Navy (both in port and in the phases of entry and exit from naval bases), to boarding on the high seas of suspicious ships through armed nuclei (Green Team) and protection of inspection teams (Blue Team), in the context of maritime police missions.

Il 42 Commandos consists of the Support Company, with 4 tokens (Recce Troop, Sniper Troop, Signals Troop and Mortar Troop) and 4 basic weapon companies (Juliet, Kilo, Lima e Mike). The Juliet Company, specialized in maritime interdiction missions, supplies the FSRT (Fleet Standby Rifle Troops) platoons intended to be embarked on the Royal Navy naval units, as a protection team, and the FCT (Fleet Contingency Troop), oriented to maritime security , anti-piracy and boarding on the high seas.
