This afternoon the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published the following communique: "Two Tu-160 strategic bombers made a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. The escort was provided by the crews of a Su-35S of the Aerospace Forces and a Su-27 of the Russian Navy Aviation. flight was about eight hours. At certain points along the route, Russian strategic missile carriers were joined by Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighters German, F-16 of the Air Force Danish and Air Force F-18s Finnish. Long-range crews fly regularly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, and the Black and Baltic Seas. All flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict accordance with the international airspace management system."

They often approach or fly close to NATO airspace without using transponders, communicating with air traffic control, or having submitted a flight plan."
