Iran produces a new warship in October

Iran will unveil the new Moudge class destroyer by next October. This was stated by the commander of the Iranian Navy, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.

The destroyer 'Damavand' or 'Jamaran-2' will be equipped with drones, advanced cruise missiles and will be equipped with electronic warfare devices. After years of research - added Sayyari on the official website of the Iranian army - we are able to arm the 'Damavand' with reconnaissance and combat UAVs. The destroyer - added Sayyari - is carrying out the latest sea trials, in a secret area of the Caspian Sea.The 'Damavand' (which is based on the Alvand class) is 100 meters long, weighs about 1.300 tons with a maximum speed of thirty knots. The 'Davamand' will almost certainly mount the new Sayyad-2 missiles, which went into mass production since last November. The Iranian Navy has launched its first "in-house" destroyer from Shahid Tamjidi Marine Industries, the 'Jamaran' ( in the photo), in the Persian Gulf, in February 2010. Obviously, the information released by the Iranian government, as well as that disseminated by totalitarian and militarized regimes, must be taken with due caution as they have a specific propaganda purpose. Meanwhile, the size, would catalog the Moudge-class ships as light frigates and certainly not destroyers.

The Iranian press itself, in defining them, uses both terms.

The real capabilities of Iranian ships remain shrouded in mystery, but do not worry the West, considering the potential of the Tehran war industry.

The 'Moudge' class will consist of seven boats.
