Libya: a battleground between men, jihadist beasts and ... diplomats with diplomas

Tomorrow the Turkish parliament will rule on the request for help (intended as a non-diplomatic military) by Prime Minister al-Sarraj to stop the advance - slow but inexorable - of General Haftar's troops.

The European Union would intend to send a diplomatic representation (composed of the foreign ministers of Italy, Germany, France together with the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the Union) to Tripoli next January 6, to set up a mediation between the warring parties.

Unfortunately, the European Union has at least "confused" ideas.

The rapidly occurring events indicate that the comparison will only be resolved with one victory of one of the sides on the field.

President Erdoğan has been supplying the Misurata militias with weapons and equipment; now, with the Defense Agreement of November 27th between Tripoli and Ankara, the Turkish armed forces will be able to directly intervene on Libyan territory.

Meanwhile the Ankara Air Force is engaged in the transport of hundreds of Islamic fighters, veterans from the battles in the Syrian war.

Italian politics, on Christmas holidays, appears once again displaced.

In November, Haftar's forces (most likely military advisors) shot down one of our drones, a very expensive ReaperThe incident was passed over in silence, without any political party asking what happened to the sophisticated electronic equipment carried by the aircraft.

We remind readers that a contingent of ours is present in Misurata, in charge of the safety of the Italian hospital and medical personnel.

Returning to the situation on the ground, soon in Tripolitana we will have jihadists who will take control of migratory flows, as well as of the political management of the region (probably establishing Sharia). They will also seriously affect our economic interests, putting our hands on ENI's oil concessions, on offshore platforms and on the Greenstream gas pipeline that reaches up to Gela, and supplies the entire peninsula.

Meanwhile, we continue to have soldiers in theaters such as Afghanistan, Lebanon and Iraq, while a new caliphate will be reconstituted in front of our coasts thanks to Turkish support.

It therefore appears evident that this Executive is unable to protect our strategic interests. Without a ruling class capable of implementing a credible and effective strategy, Italy will be marginalized and its security will be seriously compromised.
