Accident in Afghanistan: 5 British soldiers die

27/04/14

Five British members of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) died yesterday in a helicopter crash. The total number of British casualties in Afghanistan rises to 453.

The crash occurred in the south of the country and - according to the British Ministry of Defense - it would seem to be a "tragic accident".

The Lynx helicopter crashed during a routine flight in Kandahar province, killing three members of the Army Air Corps, a member of the Royal Air Force and an army reservist with military intelligence duties.

It is the biggest loss of life for ISAF since an American helicopter crashed in December after being hit by the Taliban (6 victims).

Taliban militants have claimed - as is the case for almost any event - the killing of the English helicopter.

The number of ISAF soldiers fallen in Afghanistan this month rises to seven.
