The bilateral meeting last Thursday in Naples, between Italy and France, led to the signing of an agreement that lays the foundations for a new European industrial entity: NAVIRIS.

This agreement is to be framed in the 47 projects, approved by the European Union's Council of Foreign Affairs on 12 November 2019, and relating to European Defense, or the permanent structured cooperation (Pesco), established in December 2017, which includes 25 countries .

The objectives of this strategic alliance concern not only the updating of class units Horizon (the Navy has frigates online Caio Duilio e Andrea Doria - photos), but also the program European Patrol Corvette (Epc), intended for the development of a new class of military ship.

From an industrial point of view, there is no doubt that Fincantieri is proving to be a consolidated technological reality, both nationally and internationally. As proof of this, it is worth underlining the order acquired, on behalf of the Qatar Navy, aimed at the construction of surface units and submarines. However, these industrial successes, they must be accompanied by a clear one political action from Italy, with well-defined strategic objectives.
