Between 17 and 19 November the unit of the Navy (Greek "warship", ed.) And NATO Standing Naval Maritime Group-2 conducted the exercise in the south of the island of Crete Niriis-2020 planned byHellenic Navy General Staff on the basis of the instructions received fromHellenic National Defense General Staff.
The class frigate participated in the exercise from the Greek side Elli (F-466HS Nikiforos Phokas) and the class frigate Hydra (F-454HS Psara), fast attack ship class Votes (P-75HS Maridakis), fast attack ship class Roussen (P-78 Karathanasis) and an unspecified submarine. The NATO SNMG-2, on the other hand, has deployed the Spanish class frigate Álvaro de Bazán F-105 ESPS Christopher Columbus, the Bulgarian frigate class Koni F-11 BGS Smeli and the Spanish class refueling Patiño A-14 ESPS Patiño. These naval assets also carried out joint activity with four F-16C / D Block 52 of the Hellenic Air Force's 115 Pteriga Makhis stationed at Souda AB.
The exercise was aimed at both technical and tactical training aimed at the preservation and improvement of operational and combat capabilities both for the armed forces of Athens and for the allied nations that took part in it.
