Covid-19: Italy asks America for help

The President of the United States Trump has signed a memorandum - at the request of the Conte Government - with which his Administration is committed to supporting the health emergency in Italy, both in terms of logistical supplies and technological equipment (such as respirators we urgently need).

Washington's move is mainly dictated by geopolitical needs, given the aid sent to our country by China and the Russian Federation. In fact, despite the redistribution of American strategic resources (which are certainly not infinite), the Old Continent still represents a cornerstone for the Americans, in particular Italy, with its central position in the Mediterranean and the numerous military bases, it must be held firmly in the atlantist orbit.

Even if we don't notice it, American political analysts constantly keep our country under control, plagued by an endemic political instability, that the spread of the virus can only increase. We are witnessing a crisis management by the government these days, at least questionable.

We could safely say that COVID-19 has highlighted the absurdity of the reform of Title V of the Constitution, inherent in the decision-making autonomy of the Regions.

Despite the decrees of Palazzo Chigi, each region seems to be moving on its own, attaching itself to bureaucratic quibbles to evade the closings of work, without the government having the ability to intervene to reaffirm the authority of the state.

In crisis situations, such as the one we are facing, there should be only one voice, namely that of the central government.
