Success of MBDA's Marte ER in Romania

MBDA has signed a contract with IAR (Industria Aeronautică Română) Brasov to support the integration of the Marte ER on rotary wing platforms, based on the Airbus H215M helicopter, for the Romanian Naval Forces.

Thanks to its excellent performance, the Marte ER will provide a state-of-the-art capability to carry out anti-ship missions (ASuW- Anti Surface Warfare), allowing the Romanian Navy to protect Romania's sovereign interests in the most effective way. This contract marks an important step in the cooperation between MBDA and the Romanian Armed Forces.

Arnaud Rousset, vice-president Europe of MBDA, said: “As a European leader in complex weapons systems, MBDA is the company best suited to address the challenges facing Europe, strengthening the decisive capabilities of continental defense. We are proud to contribute to the strategic autonomy of the Romanian Armed Forces and will continue to act as a trusted partner, offering a complete portfolio, adapted to their current and future needs.”

MBDA will work in collaboration with IAR Brasov and Airbus, as well as the other partners involved, to implement the integration of the Marte ER missile and a complete integration at the mission system level.

This is a new success for the Marte family of multi-platform missiles, already integrated on numerous platforms for the Italian Armed Forces and for several international customers.

The Marte ER represents the most recent generation of the Marte family; it is designed to operate in all-weather conditions and to deliver its highly effective lethal effect at distances exceeding 100 km. It has the ability to execute particularly flexible missions, with automatic and manual waypoints, salvo launch and attacks on land coordinates, with specific methods to overcome ship countermeasures.
