An international NATO customer has placed an order with the Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall for the production of mortar shells for the NATO partner's armed forces.
The order value, recorded at the beginning of the third quarter of 2024, corresponds to an intermediate volume in the tens of millions of euros.
In total, a six-digit number of mortar shells of various types will be produced by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions SAU, Spain. The order also includes various additional services as part of the product launch.
The delivery of the ammunition is scheduled for early summer 2025 and will be completed by summer 2026.
The order underscores Rheinmetall's expertise in producing cutting-edge steep-throw weapons in the field of mortar ammunition.
