Embraer has entrusted Rheinmetall with the supply of C-390 flight simulators to the Royal Netherlands Air Force, including a Full Flight and Mission Simulator (FFMS) and a Cargo Handling Station Trainer (CHST). Production will begin immediately, with delivery scheduled for late 2026.

The value of the order, recorded in the first quarter of 2025, is in the order of tens of millions of euros.

The Level D FFMS enables crew training in normal, emergency and military scenarios, simulating over 350 malfunctions. The CHST provides advanced training in load management. The Dutch model will be the first to be equipped with a new imager.

This is the third major order worldwide for Rheinmetall in the C-390 program and the second in Europe, after the acquisitions of Embraer and the Portuguese Air Force.

The C-390, which entered service in 2015, is already operational or being introduced in Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and South Korea.

Given the growing popularity of the aircraft in Europe, Embraer and Rheinmetall are considering opening a C-390 training center on the continent. Currently, the only center is in Brazil, where crews from Brazil, Portugal and Hungary are trained.
